Backpack 2 School
The Vandalia First United Methodist Church's annual Backpack 2 School event invites children and youth from schools in Fayette County, IL to enjoy a fun evening of games, snacks, giveaways, free haircuts & backpacks for the upcoming school year.
Our Mission
Do you remember the excitement of preparing for a new school year? Picking out a new backpack, picking your outfit for the first day, getting a haircut? For several years, Vandalia FUMC has been able to give that excitement to youth in Fayette County.
Each year, on the 1st Wednesday in August, we invite students, aging from pre-k to college, to pick out a new backpack, get a professional haircut, and join in on free activities and games.
How It Works
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on community support. Our efforts would not be possible without the help of donors, volunteers, and supportive members of the community.
